A two-stage process
Step 1:
Pour hot water into a baking dish large enough to hold your candles. Dip the candles in the water and leave them to soak for about 10 minutes. This will soften the wax, making it easier for you to personalize or transform them.
Tip: make sure the water is hot, but not boiling, to avoid weakening the wax. Once the time has elapsed, carefully remove the candles from the water and dry them before moving on to the next step.
Step 2:
Hold the candle firmly by its base to prevent it from slipping. Using a sharp knife (and always being careful with your fingers!), make small indentations all around the candle. These marks will give a lovely textured or sculpted effect when the candle is finished.
Once this step is complete, place the candle on a candle-holder or stable surface, and allow it to cool for around 30 minutes. This resting time will allow the nicks to dry and set for a clean, long-lasting result.

how to do it
Before you start, make sure your candles are dry and clean. A quick wipe with a cloth will remove any dust or residue. Then use acrylic paint to decorate your candles as you see fit. Let your imagination run wild!
Once you've finished decorating, place your creations on a candle-holder or protected surface and leave to dry for at least 2 hours.
