Step 1: Cleansing
The first step is to remove make-up and impurities from the skin. There are different types of make-up remover, in the form of milks, gels, micellar waters or oils. Choose the one that suits you best, apply a large dab to your fingertips and work in small circular movements over your face and neck.
You can emulsify the product by adding a little water to your fingers for more fluid make-up removal. Rinse with lukewarm water, then dry immediately with a paper or microfiber towel for the face only. You can also perfect your make-up removal with a lotion. Apply it with a cotton pad after rinsing, then dry your skin.
Step 2: Exfoliation
In this second step, we remove dead skin cells. Every 28 days or so, our skin regenerates itself through a cyclical process known as cell renewal. Cells are born in the deepest layer of the epidermis, then migrate to the skin's surface, eventually shedding off in a process known as desquamation. It's a natural process that enables the skin to continually perform its functions.
Exfoliation removes dead cells from the skin's surface, stimulating cell renewal. Grainy scrubs are the most frequently used and are suitable for most skin types. However, if you have very sensitive skin, opt for a gentle texture with micro-grains, for example.
Apply a large dab of the product to your face and work the scrub into circular movements, avoiding the eye area and eyebrows. Take the time to massage the product into your skin for a few minutes. Finally, rinse with lukewarm water and dry quickly.
Step 3: Mask fitting
Once our skin has been thoroughly cleansed, it's time to bring it the comforting benefits of a mask. Masks are designed to meet the skin's different needs. Depending on their active ingredients, they can purify, moisturize, detoxify, nourish, soothe and much more. They'll work fast to restore your skin's radiance. Here are a few examples of masks to choose from depending on your skin type:
For skin prone to blackheads and shine, opt for a purifying mask to help regulate excess sebum, mattify and refine skin texture.
For skin that's dehydrated, tight and lacking in suppleness, opt for a moisturizing mask that will help bind water in the skin's upper layers and provide greater comfort.
For delicate skin prone to redness, apply a soothing mask to calm feelings of discomfort and restore supple, plump skin.
For skin that lacks firmness and radiance, an anti-aging lifting mask is recommended to provide a tightening effect and improve skin elasticity and tone.
Choose a mask suited to your skin type and apply it with your fingers or a brush, working from the center of your face outwards, and do not forget your neck. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water and dry your skin.
Step 4: Moisturizing
Finally, it's time to apply your face cream. Oily skins will prefer a lighter, gel-like texture, while sensitive, mature or very dehydrated skins will appreciate a creamier consistency. Blend a dab of cream between your fingers and apply to the entire face and neck, using upward strokes for a lifting effect.
