Ingredients
For 4 bars of soap:
200 g. Marseille soap flakes
300 ml water
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. ground coffee beans
or
1 tbsp. turmeric
or
1 tsp matcha
or
2 tbsp. dried lavender
Few drops of essential oil (optional)
Preparation
For the base mix
Pour 300 ml of hot water into a saucepan and turn on low heat. Gradually add 200 g of Marseille soap shavings, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. This step requires a little patience, as the soap takes time to melt completely. It's important not to overheat, as excessive heat can alter the soap's texture and slow down its dissolution.
Keep mixing gently. Once most of the shavings have dissolved and the mixture begins to thicken, you can use an immersion blender to homogenize the preparation and obtain a smooth, creamy texture.
The mixture should have a thick, cake-like consistency. If you find it too compact, add a little warm water, about 20 to 40 ml at a time, until you obtain a softer texture. Once the mixture is well blended, quickly move on to the next steps explained below, depending on the type of soap you wish to make.
Turmeric soap bars
Turmeric is a natural skin care product with multiple benefits, particularly recommended for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis or acne on the back or the bust. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and healing properties, it helps soothe redness, reduce itching and calm skin inflammation. Its main active ingredient, turmeric also promotes skin regeneration and limits imperfections.
Preparation
Pour 2 tablespoons of the vegetable oil of your choice into a small container, and mix in a few drops of Neroli or Jasmine essential oil if you wish to add scent to your soap. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and stir well until smooth. Then stir in 1 tbsp grated turmeric. Add this preparation to the soap base and mix thoroughly.
Gently pour the still-warm batter into a silicone or glass mold. If you're using a glass mold, remember to line the bottom with a sheet of baking paper to make unmolding easier. Leave to rest for 48 hours at room temperature before unmolding. Then cut the soaps into the shape you want, and leave them to dry in a dry place for at least a week before using them.
Precautions for use
Turmeric can slightly tint the skin. To avoid this, make sure to rinse well after application and apply a moisturizer after showering to remove any residual traces.
Before use, apply a small amount of product to a test area to check for allergic reactions. In cases of severe eczema or psoriasis, it is advisable to seek the advice of a doctor or dermatologist before using any new skin care product.
As a general rule, essential oils are not recommended for pregnant women and young children, except on medical advice and in the presence of suitable oils.

Coffee is particularly effective for body skin, offering exfoliating, toning and antioxidant properties. Integrated in soap in the form of small beans, it helps to eliminate dead cells, activate blood circulation and improve skin texture. Its energizing action also promotes skin firming, making it an invaluable ally in the fight against cellulite and orange-peel skin. Thanks to its high caffeine content, it helps reduce water retention, smooth the skin and revive its natural radiance.
